Moving Forward in Faith
Building with Purpose at GracePoint Fellowship Baptist Church
Founded in 2007, GracePoint Fellowship Baptist Church began with a clear calling to reach and strengthen families through the gospel of Jesus Christ. What started with about 30 people quickly grew into a close-knit church family. Today, it remains a multigenerational church, with three and even four generations worshiping together, many from families who helped plant the church.
A strong sense of connection has always defined GracePoint. The church values unity, prayer, and shared decision making, and members are deeply involved in the life of the church. Leadership seeks strong agreement from the congregation before moving forward on major decisions, creating a culture of trust and ownership. GracePoint is not simply a place people attend on Sundays. It is a church family.
After purchasing land in 2008, GracePoint built a multipurpose building and held its first service there in 2013. The building was completed in phases as the church grew, yet children’s ministry continued to outgrow the available space.
In 2019, leadership began planning for a new children’s building, but challenges led the church to pause and pray together.
As the congregation continued to grow, children’s ministry became one of the clearest areas of need. Classrooms filled quickly, and limited space made it more difficult to serve families well and welcome visitors. Church leadership knew additional space would be needed but remained committed to waiting on God’s timing.
In early 2020, GracePoint made the decision to wait. Just weeks later, COVID 19 impacted churches across the country. Reflecting on that season, leaders believe God was guiding and protecting the church through uncertainty. Instead of becoming discouraged, the congregation trusted that God still had a plan. The waiting period strengthened unity and brought clarity to the vision.
When the project was revisited, the direction became clear. Rather than focusing on a new sanctuary used primarily on Sundays, GracePoint sensed God leading them to invest in a space that would be used throughout the week. Classrooms and education areas would allow the church to disciple children consistently, support families, and serve the community more effectively.
As the church explored financing, leadership applied with multiple institutions. Some applications were denied, and other options did not align with the church’s mission. GracePoint was seeking a partner who understood churches and shared their heart for gospel centered ministry. That search led them to the Southern Baptists of Texas Foundation, where the Foundation team provided confidence and support.
“The church was reminded that God cared more about who they were becoming than simply completing a building. Every challenge became an opportunity to grow in faith and trust Him more deeply. ”
Even as the construction team and church sought God’s will, the process brought challenges including increased costs, change orders, inflation, and seasons when some members were out of work. Throughout it all, the Construction Committee continued seeking God not only for the project, but also in their personal lives. During one difficult moment, a committee member sensed God saying, “I have the money, and this project will get built. This is not just a building project. It is an opportunity for the church to experience Me.” From that point forward, God’s provision became clear. Needs were met, obstacles were overcome, and the church was reminded that God cared more about who they were becoming than simply completing a building. Every challenge became an opportunity to grow in faith and trust Him more deeply.
Today, the new children’s building reflects a church family moving forward together in faith and obedience. Through seasons of waiting and uncertainty, GracePoint remained united, trusting that God was at work. With space to disciple children throughout the week and serve families more effectively, GracePoint Fellowship Baptist Church continues to invest faithfully in the next generation.
